There was another mishap involving a Fly Montserrat aircraft today, this time at the John Osborne Airport on Montserrat. Reports reaching MNI Alive indicate that Fly Montserrat aircraft flight, 5M 2109, veered off the runway upon landing.

The aircraft was completing its journey from Antigua with seven souls onboard, to include six passengers and the pilot.

MNI Alive contacted the Manager of Fly Montserrat, Captain Nigel Harris, who confirmed that an incident did take place. Captain Harris stated; "I can report that the aircraft landed normally, decelerated along the runway, but the pilot thought that he felt a minor vibration. As a precaution, he let the aircraft roll gently onto the grass, where the passengers disembarked. No injuries, no damage to aircraft."

A passenger who was onboard the aircraft has reliably informed MNI Alive that from their experience and observation with the landing today, it would also appear as if braking issues also contributed to the plane having to veer off the runway in the manner that it did.

As to whether braking issues were a factor in today's mishap, MNI Alive asked Captain Harris about this towards which he responded; "Until the engineer inspects the aircraft we will have to await his report. Initial reports are that there is no accident damage to the aircraft The tower reported a normal touch down, in the correct area, and normal deceleration. Given the short runway and the topography of the airfield, my initial reaction is that this was a prudent decision."

MNI alive will continue to update you once more information becomes available.
