John Heubusch, Executive Director of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute, on the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden:

"President-elect Biden has dedicated his entire life to public service and we wish him, First Lady-elect Dr. Jill Biden and his Administration success in representing all Americans as he takes office. He now begins the hard but important work of tackling the many urgent domestic and foreign policy challenges facing our country.

“January 20th, 2021 will also mark the 40th anniversary of the inauguration of President Ronald Reagan. When president Reagan took office, he did so against the backdrop of what he called ‘an economic affliction of great proportions.’ However, always the optimist, he gave hope to a country in peril in his 1981 Inaugural Address. He called on all Americans to exercise "our best effort and our willingness to believe in ourselves and to believe in our capacity to perform great deeds, to believe that together with God's help we can and will resolve the problems which now confront us.’

“Reagan always believed in the greatness of America, the power of the American spirit and the potential and resilience of its great people. May his words be a source of inspiration and hope today as they were to so many more than 40 years ago.”
