COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT OFFICER - CHILD CARE and PROTECTION

The Community Services Department within the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Community Services and Sports is responsible for the care management and safety of vulnerable children, children under its protection and fulfilling its obligations under the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

The Department is seeking to recruit a Community Development Officer - Child Care and Protection to establish its ambit. The responsibilities of the post to include the following:

  • Maintaining accurate case files and manage case load;
  • Liaising with local, regional and international organizations with respect to Child Care and Protection and Social Development;
  • Developing, coordinating, monitoring and evaluating the Foster Care Programme; and
  • Collaborating on the development and implementation of Care Standards for Child Care Centres

STRUCTURAL ENGINEER VACANCY

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for the post of Structural Engineer within the Public Works Department, Ministry of Communications, Works and Labour.

Key responsibilities include:

  • To prepare designs for construction development and maintenance projects in all common construction materials
  • To prepare working drawings and specifications for building projects as well as structures pertaining to infrastructural development and other types of projects/facilities.
  • To prepare and administer contracts for construction
  • To supervise building works on site, prepare necessary instructions and maintain records of all aspects of the design and construction of projects.
  • To liaise and co-ordinate with Client Ministries on design and technical aspects of projects
  1. Applicant must have a Bachelors Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
  2. Have at least five (5) years structural engineering and building construction experience and knowledge of conceptual development, analysis and design of various structures as well as construction management, inspection, investigation of damaged or collapsed structures.

QUANTITY SURVEYOR VACANCY

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for the post of Quantity Surveyor within the Public Works Department, Ministry of Communications, Works and Labour.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing costs of all construction work for distribution to engineers, architects and contractors to update the costs database
  • Preparing tender documents, bills of quantities and other contract documents
  • Evaluation of tender documents and make recommendations to Government as to which offer best provides value for money
  • Estimating overall costs of construction projects from the design stage to completion
  • Making valuations during construction to calculate payments for contractors at the various stages of construction work

Applicant must have a Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying and at least 5 years experience in municipal works with some supervisory responsibilities.
