The band was playing
Patrons by droves entering
With graphical style and posture
She crossed the half-crowded floor
There was her first love, as the band played on
A shuttled line of twisted faith she was gone
Out of character  with a bolstering laugh
She said “I’m glad faith stood on my behalf”

That guy had me skipping classes
I’m mad as hell but I’m glad as well
Remembering the monstrous crush I had on him
Father time was not favorable just grim
I’m not gloating but today I’m grateful
That valley I was cruising with him was shameful
Disappointment, then, is my friend today
The impeccable u-turn showed me a way

It’s tough to admit things always done for the better
Seeing him absent, no revenge, my heart grew fonder
Today that stallion pain is in the rear
Cry now for tomorrow can cheer your tear
Broken hearts are unmendable
Destroyed lives can be bendable
Mother Nature had second thoughts also
Be humane to lovers, for ex-lovers memories never go
