Fellow Montserratians,

As the year draws to a close and the festive season takes over our beautiful island, I extend warm Christmas greetings to each and every one of you. It is a pleasure to address you, as we come together in the spirit of love, gratitude, and community.

This year has presented us with numerous challenges that have reverberated through our close-knit community, testing our resilience and unity. I want to express my heartfelt appreciation for your strength and solidarity during these trying times. Our ability to face adversity together is a testament to that unyielding spirit that defines us as Montserratians.

As we gather with our families and friends, I encourage us all to reflect on the values that make Montserrat unique - the strength of community bonds, the warmth of our hospitality, and the unwavering hope that propels us forward. Christmas is a time of renewal, a moment to find solace in the company of loved ones, and to draw inspiration from the love that surrounds us.

Looking ahead, let us approach the coming year with optimism and determination. The challenges we faced this year have only served to strengthen our resolve to build a stronger and more prosperous Montserrat. We must continue working together to overcome obstacles, ensuring that no one in our community is left behind.

To our esteemed private sector community, your unwavering dedication to Montserrat shines brightly, demonstrating a love that puts our island first. In the face of challenges and turbulent times, your commitment towards staying true to this land is both admirable and inspiring. As you navigate the rough waters, your resilience and focus are a beacon of hope for our community. I express my heartfelt thanks and wish a Merry Christmas to all those operating within the private sector. Your contributions form the backbone of our island's prosperity, and your steadfast commitment is truly commendable.

I also wish to extend warm season's greetings to the diligent staff within the various government departments. Your tireless efforts are part of the cornerstone of our nation's functionality, and we recognize the profound commitment you bring to your roles. With gratitude, we wish you and your families a Merry Christmas, acknowledging the vital role you play in the well-being of Montserrat.

Amidst the trials, let us also embrace the joy and excitement of the Christmas season. As we celebrate with family, friends, and neighbours - let the spirit of Christmas fill our hearts with compassion and goodwill.

I am delighted to see Montserrat alive with the vibrant energy of the 2023 Carnival festivities. This year's celebrations hold special significance as friends and relatives, from near and far, have decided to join us in the revelry. We welcome you. May these moments of joy be a source of strength, connecting us to our roots and reinforcing the bonds that go beyond time and distance.

In closing, on behalf of The Office of The Opposition, I wish you all a Christmas filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Also, may the New Year usher in prosperity, good health, and a renewed sense of hope for Montserrat.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all!

Thank you!
