The Government of Montserrat is inviting applications from suitably qualified persons for the post of Washer in the Ministry of Health and Social Services.

 Job Purpose

The purpose of this job is to launder all linen used in the ambulance, the Margetson Memorial Home (MMH), and in all departments of the Glendon Hospital and as per infection control standards.   

 

Main Responsibilities include:

  1. Collecting laundry from the hospital and the MMH for washing.
  2. Sorting, sluicing, soaking, washing, drying, folding, counting and distributing laundry to the hospital departments and Geriatric Home adhering to Infection Control standards.
  3. 3. Cleaning and disinfecting the Laundry and utensils adhering to all Infection Control guidelines:
  4. Attending training sessions to enhance growth and development.
  5. Adhering to all infection and control guidelines.
  6. Performing any other appropriate duties assigned by the Supervisor of Housekeeping.

Person Specification/Key Skills Requirements (Qualifications, Experience and Interpersonal):

The Applicant should:

  • Possess a School Leaver’s Certificate
  • Be able to able to read and write
  • Be physically fit and able to stand for long hours.

Terms of Appointment

Appointment will be made on a permanent basis. 

Remuneration Package

Basic Salary

The salary scale for the post is R51-45, that is, EC$20,388.00 to EC$23,316.00 per annum (taxable).
