Mental Health Warden

The Government of Montserrat is inviting applications from suitably qualified persons for the post of Mental Health Warden, within the Ministry of Health and Social Services.

JOB PURPOSE
To monitor residents to detect harmful and unusual behaviour and work along with the mental health team in accordance with the Oriole Villa operational manual and/or the Mental Health Act.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist in the development and implementation of care plans for each resident/client;
• Monitor residents to detect unusual or harmful behaviour;
• Work as part of a team that may include a Psychiatrist, Psychologist, Psychiatric Nurses, Social Workers and other support staff;
• Organize, supervise or encourage residents' participation in social, educational and recreational activities;
• Report on incidents and/or accidents that may occur within the facility; and
• Attend training sessions to enhance growth and development.

PERSONNEL SPECIFICATIONS

The applicant should possess:-

• Three (3) CSEC passes to include English and Mathematics
• Excellent communication, negotiation and leadership skills
• Be physically fit and able to navigate the compound.

Training and experience within the following areas would be considered as an asset:-

• Short courses in Social Work, Psychology or any related health field.
• Experience working with persons/families affected by mental illness.
