The Government of Montserrat is inviting applications from suitably qualified persons for the post of Maid in the Ministry of Health and Social Services.

Job Purpose

The purpose of this job is to clean the Glendon Hospital and Margetson Memorial Home (MMH) to the required standard of cleanliness using infection control standards.

 Main Responsibilities include:

  1. Clean floors at the Casualty Department, Wards, Offices, the Margetson Memorial Home (MMH) and Morgue.
  2. Disinfect patient and resident lockers and table tops daily.
  3. Clean windows and walls weekly and as required.
  4. Damp dust all surfaces i.e. equipment, bed-frames etc. daily.
  5. Empty, wash, and disinfect garbage bins at start of each shift and as needed.
  6. Disinfect mattresses, bed-frames, lockers and surrounding areas after patient is discharged.
  7. Remove dirty dishes on Wards and Geriatric Home and pack the trolley.
  8. Attend training sessions to enhance growth and development.
  9. Adhere to all infection and control guidelines.
  10. Any other appropriate duties assigned by the Supervisor of Housekeeping.

Person Specification/Key Skills Requirements (Qualifications, Experience and Interpersonal):

The Applicant should:

  • Possess a School Leaver’s Certificate
  • Be able to able to read and write
  • Be physically fit and able to stand for long hours.

Terms of Appointment

Appointment will be made on a Permanent basis. 

Remuneration Package

Basic Salary

The salary scale for the post is R51-45, that is, EC$20,388.00 to $23,316.00 per annum (taxable).
