From sandy Caribbean beaches to austere European palaces and everything in between, we’ve got a list of some unbeatable destinations to keep in mind. Canadians will be clamouring for the events and experiences awaiting them in 2025—so consider the following for your upcoming coverage:

Baltimore, MD—Baltimore celebrates cultural tastemakers and creative entrepreneurs while honouring its rich history. As noted by The New York Times, Baltimore is one of the “52 Places to Go”—and the city invites everyone to see why. For next year, one of the standout events on the horizon is the 14th Annual Red Shoe Shuffle 5K Run and Walk, taking place on April 27, 2025. This family-friendly race showcases the strength of the community, beginning at the Big Red Heart at Ronald McDonald House. Additionally, from February 25 to March 1, 2025, Baltimore will host the CIAA Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournament

Since 1981, the National Aquarium has been a must-visit destination in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor, consistently ranked among the best aquariums in the country. Visitors can create a unique experience with customizable programs, including daytime tours, virtual activities, or overnight sleepovers. The aquarium recently opened its newest exhibit, Harbor Wetland, featuring a $14 million outdoor space designed to replicate the Chesapeake Bay tidal salt marsh. Officially inaugurated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, this 10,000-square-foot “living habitat” includes over 32,000 native shrubs and marsh grasses, providing a home for various microorganisms, fish, crabs, birds, and small mammals. 

Belize—The country is shaping up to be an exciting destination for 2025, offering new experiences for travellers. Belize's tourism landscape is set to be elevated by the opening of Six Senses Belize, an eco-luxury resort located on Ambergris Caye. This stunning resort will span across two locations: a vibrant beachfront and a private island just a short boat ride away and is designed to be eco-conscious. Apart from this, Belize also recently welcomed new hotels increasing the room capacity in San Pedro this year with the opening of Watermark Belize Hotel and Bananas on the Beach. Belize City has also expanded its Belize City Waterfront Expansion, introducing a new boardwalk lined with restaurants, shops, and cultural spaces showcasing local artisans. In 2025, the destination will continue to offer vibrant festivals every weekend, from Benque Fiesta’s parade to July's Lobster Festivals in Caye Caulker, Placencia, and San Pedro, and the Belize International Music and Food Festival held at the end of July annually. In 2025, Greater Miami & Miami Beach will host the MDRT Annual Meeting at the Miami Beach Convention Center from June 22 to 25, showcasing the area's beautiful beaches and vibrant dining options. On February 2, the Life Time Miami Marathon and Half Marathon will attract athletes and spectators. From February 12 to 16, the Discover Boating Miami International Boat Show will showcase over 1,000 exhibitors across six locations, including a VIP showcase of luxurious yachts at Watson Island. The Coconut Grove Arts Festival, celebrating its 60th year from February 15 to 17, will feature over 280 juried artists, culinary demonstrations, and live music. Finally, food enthusiasts can indulge in the 23rd annual Food Network South Beach Wine & Food Festival presented by Capital One from February 20 to 23, a four-day celebration of culinary excellence across Greater Miami and Miami Beach. 

North Carolina—Art lovers can immerse themselves in the highly anticipated Andrew Wyeth exhibition at the Reynolda House Museum of American Art in Winston-Salem, showcasing a stunning collection of his masterpieces from February 13 to May 25. Foodies will be thrilled by the return of the Asheville Bread Festival, featuring workshops and tastings from notable James Beard winners.

For racing fans, the historic Rockingham Speedway is back in action over Easter weekend, reviving its legacy with NASCAR events that will get your adrenaline pumping. Adventure seekers can hit the slopes at the revamped Prime ski area near Asheville, offering modern amenities and breathtaking views for all skill levels. Orlando, FL—Orlando, the world’s capital of all things fun, is set for an exciting 2025 with major new attractions and expansions across its theme parks and beyond. Universal Orlando Resort will debut its fourth theme park, Universal Epic Universe, featuring five immersive worlds including The Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Ministry of Magic and Super Nintendo World. Walt Disney World plans significant additions, including new Pixar-themed areas in Magic Kingdom focused on Cars and Hollywood Studios focused on Monsters Inc., and the start of construction on a Villains Land. Animal Kingdom will begin work on Tropical Americas, set to open in 2027 with Indiana Jones and Encanto attractions. Outside the parks, Orlando will welcome new hotels like Universal's Stella Nova Resort and Terra Luna Resort, adding 1,500 rooms to the area. The Kimpton Orlando, a boutique hotel, is slated to open in early 2027 in downtown Orlando. The dining scene continues to evolve with new concepts like Shoma Bazaar food hall expected in 2026. Entertainment options will expand with Blue Man Group's return to a new theatre at ICON Park and the opening of Live! at The Pointe Orlando, featuring multiple dining and nightlife venues.

San Francisco, CA—The city’s Financial District is buzzing with new attractions for tourists. In a fitting nod to its past, the district is the site of the first entertainment zone in California. On Front Street, between California and Sacramento streets, brick-and-mortar establishments received permits through recently approved state legislation to sell alcoholic beverages for outdoor consumption on the street during special events and programs. The iconic Transamerica Pyramid Center has unveiled a revamped public space featuring a reading area, an exhibition space, and a coffee bar from local favourite Sightglass Coffee. Its expanded Transamerica Redwood Park, home to over 50 towering redwoods, offers a peaceful urban escape. This October, the Institute of Contemporary Art San Francisco (ICA SF) will reopen at The Cube, doubling its exhibition space and remaining free to visit. St. Louis, MO—The city boasts festivals and irresistible food and drinks to keep visitors energised from sunrise to sunset. One major highlight is the 2025 NCAA Men’s Frozen Four, taking place at the Enterprise Center on April 10, 2025. The semifinals will kick off on this date, with the NCAA Division I Men’s Ice Hockey Championship following on April 12. St. Louis is also thrilled to host the Meeting Professionals International (MPI) World Education Congress (WEC) in 2025. This event promises to be a fantastic opportunity to explore the city’s top restaurants, shopping, entertainment, and attractions. Among the unique attractions in St. Louis are Forest Park, home to world-class destinations like the Saint Louis Art MuseumSaint Louis ZooSaint Louis Science Center and the Missouri History Museum. Another exciting development is the reopening of the Old Courthouse, which has undergone significant renovations, making it a must-see historical landmark. These enhancements further enrich the city's vibrant cultural scene, ensuring there's always something new to discover in St. Louis. 

U.S. Virgin Islands—The islands of St. Thomas, St. John, and St. Croix boast some of the most breathtaking beaches and crystal-clear waters in the world. From the sands of Magens Bay to snorkelling in the vibrant coral reefs of Trunk Bay. Beyond the beaches, the islands are steeped in rich history and culture, making them a fantastic destination for both relaxation and exploration. Take part in a Cruzan rum distillery tour or head to the floating bar, Lime Out.

One of the highlights of visiting the US Virgin Islands in 2025 will be the vibrant festivals that showcase the unique spirit of the islands. Experience the energetic Carnival celebrations in St. Thomas, complete with colourful parades, live music, and local delicacies. The St. John festival hosts pageants, a festival village, historical presentations and a food fair. In December immerse yourself in the cultural heritage of St. Croix at the Crucian Christmas Festival, featuring parades, dancing, art and music.

Vienna—Visitors can explore picturesque vineyards, charming taverns, lush parks, and engaging zoos while indulging in outdoor adventures, cultural activities, and culinary delights of Austria’s capital. Whether hiking through autumn landscapes, enjoying playgrounds, or visiting the House of the Sea on a rainy day, Vienna's vibrant atmosphere provides a feast for the senses. 

  • In 2025, Vienna will celebrate the 200th birthday of Johann Strauss II, the Waltz King. This milestone will be honoured throughout the city in ballrooms, on stages, and in exhibition halls highlighting Strauss's lasting impact on Viennese culture.   • Notable events in 2025 include the Rainbow Ball on January 25, a celebration for the LGBTIQ+ community at Parkhotel Schönbrunn, where attendees are encouraged to wear their finest attire and enjoy a night of waltzes. 
  • In June, the Vienna Fetish Spring festival will feature various events, including the election of "Mr. Leather Austria," alongside the 29th Rainbow Parade celebrating LGBTQ+ rights. 
  • The Vienna Opera Ball, the season's most glamorous event, will transform the Vienna State Opera into a spectacular ballroom, attracting artists, politicians, and enthusiasts and reaching millions through TV broadcasts. 
  • The “Sunken City” project at Pier 22 will continue to take shape, with construction on kiosks, fitness areas, and other amenities continuing through 2025. The project better connects the waterfront and provides families with outdoor recreation opportunities.
  • In 2025, a listed court building will open as the new Mandarin Oriental Hotel and a luxury hotel at Palais Schwarzenberg will open in a Baroque palace from 1697.

Washington DC—The city kicks off the year with the excitement and anticipation of the Presidential Inauguration following the 2024 election. This will mark the first in-person inauguration since 2017 as the 2021 event was impacted by the pandemic. Later in 2025, the world’s eyes will once again be on DC as the city celebrates World Pride, a global celebration of LGBTQ+ people, its adversity and the continued work that must be done for the community worldwide. This will also coincide with the 50th anniversary of Capital Pride, DC’s annual celebration. Visitors can book new and newly renovated properties from the New Year, with 2024 projects including the rebranding of the former Mandarin Oriental into Salamander Washington, DC. Guests can experience luxury with modernly refreshed guest suites designed by Washington's own Thomas Pheasant, including its stunning gathering spaces and an expanded spa. In addition, the opening of Arlo, which is slated for October, will be the city's first property from the independent lifestyle brand, promising a unique blend of historic preservation and modern amenities, featuring a rooftop lounge, pool, and innovative dining options. And for those looking ahead to 2025, the anticipated openings of projects like The James, a high-end lifestyle hotel converted from the current Royal Sonesta Dupont Circle, and the CitizenM Georgetown, which will mark the third property from the Netherlands-based brand.
