Vybz Kartel finally had his day in court. The hearing that took place on Friday was for marijuana possession, and not the more serious charges of murder, conspiracy and illegal firearm possession, which were also brought against him. He is expected back in court on October 13 to answer those latter charges.

On the charge of marijuana possession, Kartel pleaded not guilty. MNI Alive understands that Kartel's lawyer made a request that the court drop the marijuana possession charge, but the sitting Magistrate rejected the request. It is expected that another appearance would be made before the court on October 11, when a bail application is expected to be made.

Alicia Jackson, who was also arrested with Kartel on the charge of marijuana possession, pleaded guilty and was fined $500 or thirty days in jail.
