Three of Montserrat's Public Officers Currently in India attending CARICOM Diplomats Training

The Government of Montserrat recently gave notice that they have sent three officers to the 2nd Special Training Programme for CARICOM Diplomats, being held in India from August 12 to 23, 2019.

The Montserrat public service officers currently in India are, Assistant Secretary in the External Affairs Division of the Office of the Premier, Michelle Cassell; Senior Clerical Officer in the Office of the Premier, Shandrina Daley and Senior Clerical Officer in the Human Resources Management Unit, Shanique White.

While attending the two-week training, the participants will be exposed to lectures on the following topics:
  
o Multilateral Negotiations and Building Coalitions
o India / Caribbean Economic Relations
o Diaspora Matters
o State /Diplomatic Protocol
o Diplomatic Communication
o Inward and Outward Investment Opportunities for Caribbean Countries

Participants in the programme will also be exposed to India’s Government and Political systems, as well as its culture and heritage, through site visits to the Election Commission of India, as well as local Museums, and land marks.

Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to interact with Joint Secretaries, and Ambassadors of various commissions within the Foreign Service Institute and Ministry of External Affairs of India respectively.

Individuals from other CARICOM countries are attending, to include:
o Antigua and Barbuda
o Belize
o Guyana
o St. Vincent and the Grenadines
o Jamaica
o St. Kitts and Nevis
o Haiti
o Suriname and Grenada

The attendance of the Montserrat delegation is jointly sponsored by the Government of Montserrat and the Government of India Technical Cooperation Relations.  The training is being facilitated through the Government of India, Foreign Service Institute and the Ministry of External Affairs.
