Hon. Dr. Timothy Harris, the Leader of the powerful St.Kitts-Nevis Tri-Party Alliance Team UNITY has congratulated the newly elected Premier of Montserrat the Hon. Donaldson Romeo and his party the PDM’s victory at the recently concluded polls.
In a congratulatory letter issued and sent to the newly elected Premier Romeo and his PDM Cabinet, Dr. Harris lauded Romeo and the people of Montserrat for making the change they wanted happen.
"I write to congratulate you on an excellent victory in the recent general elections on Montserrat. Your team clearly demonstrated that it was better able to take Montserrat to a higher level of growth and development.
My partners in Team Unity join me in rejoicing with the people of Montserrat for making change happen through the democratic process in free and fair elections," said Dr. Harris.
The dynamic Team UNITY Leader however lamented the continued trampling of democracy in St.Kitts-Nevis by the ruling Dr. Denzil Douglas led regime and further applauded the people of Montserrat and the newly elected Premier for their resilience and determination in their quest to bring prosperity to the people of Montserrat
Harris stated in part , "In St. Kitts and Nevis the Douglas administration is undermining the electoral system through the appointment of party hacks, and yes men to positions in the electoral office, and the manipulation of the voters list. Elections are about human rights, civil rights and political lliberties. When an electoral system is undermined, human rights are violated."
Harris gave his Team UNITY’s best wishes to the new Premier Romeo PDM Administration and encouraged their support for a region of democracy and good governance.
"As a beneficiary of the democratic way of life in Monsterrat, I trust you will lend your voice to ensure that within our region, democracy and good governance will find safe haven.
As you embark of the onerous responsibilities of state, we in Team Unity wish you well and pray for the success for your term.
