WASHINGTON, D.C. — In response to breaking news that more than 100,000 people have died from the coronavirus in the United States, People For the American Way President Michael Keegan released the following statement:

“We have reached a tragic and horrific milestone in America-- more than 10‚Äã0,000 people have succumbed to the coronavirus. Our hearts go out to those who are mourning family, friends and loved ones during this crisis, at the same time that we must state unequivocally that this administration has failed us again and again as this catastrophic pandemic took hold.  Donald Trump memorably said ‘I don’t take responsibility at all’ for the crisis. But there is no escaping the fact that lives could have been saved had this president not feared political harm more than he fears the loss of American lives to the virus."
