Cricket legend and golf enthusiast Sir Vivian Richards steps up and donates a personally signed limited edition poster to be auctioned during the prize giving ceremony for the INET International Pairs Golf Antigua and Barbuda Tournament organised by Golf Experience Caribbean (the regional franchise holders for International Pairs), slated to be held on Saturday, September 10 at the Cedar Valley Golf Course.
Sir Vivian Richards presented the framed World Champions limited edition poster that features pictures of the legendary West Indies team of the 1970's and 1980's to Zorol Barthley, CEO of Golf Experience.
Sir Vivian explains that he wants to be part of the event even though work commitments will not allow him to participate in this year's INET International Pairs: "I always try to support Zorol as I feel that what he is doing is great for the club (Cedar Valley Golf Club) and our country. It shows what can be achieved in the sporting arena "' not just in cricket and football but sport as a whole and we are lucky to have the environment here to develop it."'
Sir Vivian adds that he also wanted to contribute in a meaningful way: "I felt that I needed to make a contribution towards this very worthy cause as I played with Winston Davis first as his captain of the Combined Islands team and as a West Indies team member. We all know the circumstance of Winston's accident and the problems he faces since the accident many years ago and anything we can do to raise as much money as we can is worth doing for this very worthwhile cause. And this is why I picked this print as it celebrates our greatest achievement when the West Indies team was king in the 70's and 80's and I hope that whoever purchases this item will do justice to this personal item and appreciate what it means to me and Winston Davis."'
Sir Vivian signed the limited edition print which will be one of the items auctioned at the INET International Pairs 2011 awards ceremony and auction.
