In a historic moment for the island of Saint-Martin, Commissioner of Tourism & Culture, Valérie Damaseau, proudly addressed the audience, on Thursday 1st, to celebrate the inaugural  flight of Air Antilles under new management, alongside the President of the Collectivity of Saint-Martin,  the Deputy of Saint-Barthélemy & Saint-Martin and Director of Tourism, Aida Weinum.

"This moment marks a pivotal turning point for our island and our community," said Commissioner  Damaseau. "Facing the challenges encountered by Air Antilles, The Collectivité of Saint-Martin, with the  support of French group EDEIS, made the courageous decision to take over the airline".

Commissioner Damaseau emphasized that governing a community requires strategic investments. "An  investment does not bear fruit overnight; it requires time, patience and a long-term vision".

The decision to take over Air Antilles was approached with this mindset. "We did not just save a struggling  company; we made and investment in our future," Commissioner Damaseau stated.

The investment in Air Antilles is not a mere expenditure, but a powerful lever for the economic growth to  our territory. "The Collectivité of Saint-Martin has made a strategic and visionary choice. We firmly believe  that this investment is a cornerstone for the future development of our territory".

This also ends the existing monopoly, optimizing regional connectivity. Each additional flight represents  not only revenue for the airline but also indirect benefits for our territory: hotel, restaurants, shops, and  various services will all benefit.

It opens new market opportunities on both the tourism and economic fronts. By developing new routes and  increasing flight frequencies, we make Saint-Martin more accessible, attractive and competitive. This  attracts not only more visitors but also investors ready to explore the economic potential of our island.

Strengthening our ties with other Caribbean islands consolidates our position as regional hub. "This  inaugural flight symbolizes our commitment to revitalizing our territory; creating opportunities, and  building a prosperous future for all Saint-Martiners.
