Profile: Tracey E. S. Lee, People's Democratic Movement (PDM) Candidate for Montserrat's General Elections 2024

Meet Tracey E. S. Lee, a dedicated candidate running for the People’s Democratic Movement (PDM) in the upcoming 2024 General Elections on Montserrat. Born in Montserrat and having lived abroad, Tracey pursued her education at Binghamton University, earning a double major in Law & Society and Philosophy, along with a minor in Theater. Her return to Montserrat is driven by a deep passion to contribute to the island’s development and to serve its people.

Tracey is committed to strong economic growth, social cohesion, and ensuring fair and equal access to opportunities. She is dedicated to fostering a foundation built on transparency, trust, integrity, and responsible governance. These principles led her to join the PDM Workforce, where she aims to make a significant impact.

Tracey’s campaign focuses on core principles: Community, Transparency, Integrity, Responsibility, Accountability, Innovation, Courage, Respect, and Self-determination. Her primary goal in being a part of the PDM Workforce is to contribute to Montserrat’s further development by utilising her many skills, contacts, and expertise. Expect to hear Tracey share her vision for Montserrat includes addressing key areas such as:

• Food Suitability
• Economic Growth
• Healthcare Services
• Education
• Import/Export
• Infrastructure (Electric Grid and Hospital)

Professionally, Tracey is a seasoned Lead Analyst, known for her organizational skills, managing multiple tasks from project inception to completion and demonstrating strong critical thinking skills.

She is very strong on Community Service, which saw her serving as President of the Local Campus Chapter of The New York Public Interest Research Group (NYPIRG) during her college years, where she managed a staff of 15 and developed several programs for low-income residents to include:

• A legal aid hotline
• A tutoring program for male parolees
• Quarterly food drives
• Seasonal coat drives

In her professional life, she further continued her community service by organizing a Quarterly Pantry Programme and an Annual Coat Drive.

For the 2024 General Elections, Tracey’s candidacy is rooted in the belief of a strong and vibrant Montserrat. She intends to advocate towards raising awareness of Montserrat's current position, as a British Overseas Territory, to ensure that this relationship is further beneficial in fostering a sustainable and practical development mandate that best serves the people of Montserrat.

Tracey believes this can be achieved on a platform of a nationally unified vision of what Montserrat’s future should look like, working in partnership with regional and international partners.

Together with the PDM Workforce team, her aim is to invest in the local community and work in unity to create a prosperous future for the next generation of Montserratians. Her "boots on the ground" strategy focuses on achieving short-term goals to build confidence and drive momentum towards larger economic and quality-of-life objectives.
