Lionel "Ray Ray" Williams & filmmaker Letitia McIntosh have produced a documentary, titled UNSEEN INNOCENCE. This powerful film delves into the true story of Ray Ray’s wrongful murder conviction of an Oscar-nominated Hollywood actor and his ongoing battle to clear his name.

With all the makings of a true crime thriller, UNSEEN INNOCENCE recounts the aftermath of Hollywood star Sal Mineo's ("Rebel Without A Cause") murder in 1976. Despite multiple eyewitnesses describing a 5'9" white man with blonde hair as the perpetrator, Ray Ray Williams, a black man standing at 5'5" with a large afro, was arrested and convicted. Sentenced to 51 years to life in March 1979, Williams has consistently maintained his innocence, igniting decades of speculation and debate surrounding the true events of that fateful night.

The film, directed by Letitia McIntosh, provides a compelling exploration of Ray Ray's life, the flawed investigation, and the trial that rocked the entertainment industry. It sheds light on the systemic issues that led to Ray Ray’s conviction and his tireless quest for exoneration.

  • The critical moments of the case and the significant flaws in the investigation.
  • Ray Ray’s personal experiences during the investigation, trial, and his time in prison.
  • The emotional and psychological impact of wrongful conviction on Ray Ray and his family.
  • The making of UNSEEN INNOCENCE and Letitia’s inspiration behind this important documentary.
  • Ray Ray’s continuing efforts to clear his name and raise awareness about wrongful convictions.

Here’s a brief overview of the case: On the late evening of February 12th, 1976, Sal Mineo, best known for his role in Rebel Without a Cause, was brutally murdered outside his West Hollywood residence. Eyewitnesses reported seeing a white male with long blond hair fleeing the scene, yet the focus shifted to Ray Ray Williams after a series of dubious testimonies and coerced statements. Despite a lack of physical evidence linking him to the crime, Ray Ray was convicted and sentenced to 51 years but was released after 12.

Throughout his incarceration and following his release, Ray Ray has remained steadfast in his innocence. His story is a profound testament to resilience and the unyielding pursuit of justice.
