The new CEO of the regional carrier, LIAT, Capt. Ian Brunton, has been confirmed as a presenter at the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO)'s State of the Industry Conference scheduled to take place in St. Kitts from 10-12 October. He will be part of a panel that deals with the explosive issue of regional transportation.

Capt. Brunton, a former chief executive of the Trinidad carrier, Caribbean Airlines, took over at the helm at LIAT at the beginning of August. He is expected to bring a unique perspective on the challenges facing regional transportation, as the CTO seeks a workable solution.

Also on the panel, to be moderated by the airline industry analyst, Holly Hegeman, is Ian Bertrand, an experienced airline consultant and founding principal of El Perial Management Services. The session will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 pm on Thursday 11 October.

The State of the Industry Conference is poised to be one of the most talked about events this year, one that will spur debates and tackle issues affecting the entire Caribbean tourism sector.

During the three days of provocative discussions and spirited debates, tourism industry leaders from both the public and private sectors will seek to discover the winning strategies for Caribbean competitiveness. The US Congresswoman, Dr. Donna Christian Christensen of the US Virgin Islands will deliver the special feature address at the opening, while the keynote address will be delivered by Dr. Auliana Poon, the managing director of Tourism Intelligence International.
