H+I Adventures is paving the trail for epicurean adventures around the world. The mountain biking specialists have carefully crafted a collection of mouth watering and eye opening trips that combine active travel with local delicacies in some of the world’s most culturally rich destinations. This year’s roster of culinary mountain biking trips feature tapas tours in Spain, whisky tastings in Scotland and a full-day foodie feast with breakfast in Slovenia, lunch in Austria and afternoon espresso in Italy.

World-class fiestas and flavours in Oaxaca

This area of Mexico is more famous for its culinary delights than its mountain biking, but H+I Adventures knows better. Follow forest and mountain trails to small Zapotec villages and meet local craftsman and farmers before filling up on traditional mole dishes and washing it all down with a cup of tejete, a fermented corn and cacao based drink. After conquering the famous Sierra Norte, cheers to new friends with a glass of Mezcal, a local spirit made from agave. Select departures coincide with two of the biggest festivals of the year: Semana Santa and El Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). Mexicans love a fiesta, and no one knows how to party quite like the Oaxaqueños.

Rates start at $2,550 USD. Trip departs October 26, 2015.

Whisky tasting in Scotland

After an adventurous day of biking through Scotland’s secluded lochs and open glens, a wee dram of whisky is all you need to soothe those tired legs. This tasty tour takes mountain bikers to the heart of the Scottish Highlands, where they’ll ride to Dalwhinnie distillery for a tour of the property and a tipple of the country’s favourite drink.

Rates start at $1862 USD per person. Trip departs July 4, 2015.

Tapas tour in Spain

Spain is famous for its sun, sangria and tapas, so why not enjoy it all? With a week of big climbs and breathtaking views, this trip wraps up in historic Grenada, where travellers are treated to a tapas tour of the city, savouring the spicy local delicacies from traditional Spanish restaurants.

Rates start at $2278 USD per person. 2015 departures include: September 12 and October 17.

Tri-country foodie feast

Not many people can say they’ve had breakfast in Slovenia, lunch in Austria and afternoon coffee in Italy – all in one day. This European mountain biking odyssey takes travellers on a culinary journey from the Julian Alps to the Adriatic Sea. Enjoy a seafood feast on the final leg of the trip – fresh mussels, grilled prawns, octopus salad and the local catch of the day.

Rates start at $2448 USD per person. 2015 departures include June 21, August 22, September 6, and September 20.

Beer tasting in British Columbia

After a long day of riding, there’s nothing more refreshing than an ice-cold beer. Following an epic journey along the 2181-mile high ‘Top of the World’ trail and taking in the endless scenery, mountain bikers toast with a celebratory brew or two at the iconic Whistler Brewing Company, known for their local artisan batches.

Rates start at $3043 USD per person. 2015 departures include: July 11 and September 12.
