Just because the annual Toronto Caribbean Carnival is now official over there are some amazing events still taking place around Toronto featuring the Carnival Arts. Switch on your What’s App and mark the following must attend events down.

David Rudder – The Toronto Exhibition is in full swing. Walking the midway it is hard to remember that there was a parade here two weeks ago! Listen to David Rudder giving a rare outdoor concert may having you wining on the CNE grounds one more time.

Expect King David to be Trini to the Bone and still wondering where his Hammer has Gone next Wednesday night August 28th when he performs at the CNE Bandshell. Ossie Gurley and Truth was the back-up band at many Caribana events this summer, they will be providing the music for Rudder at the free concert (with admission to the CNE). Show starts at 7.30.

Plantain Canada’s first Afro-Caribbean music festival takes place this Saturday outdoors at Fort York. The daylong fete aims to bring together multiple communities (African, Caribbean, Latin & Canadian) through the power of music, food and culture. Performers include Jamaica’s Ultimate Chromatic Sound, Nigeria’s DJ Tunez, and Grenada’s DJ Kevin Crown. 19+ event 3pm – 10pm.

The four-day One Love Festival takes placeLabour Day Weekend, August 30-September 2nd at Downsview Park. One Love's mission is to promote the message of love through music originating out of the Caribbean diaspora and contribute positively to the multicultural fabric of Canada" says organizer Eb Reinbergs. Many of the big name entertainers from the Carnival circuit are booked to perform including Kes the Band, Bunji Garli, Shabba Ranks, Patrice Roberts and Fay Ann Lyons. This outdoor event has set aside an area for children and families.

Don’t forget the free three-day TD Scarborough Community Festival August 30th to September 1st,10am to 10pm, Confederation Park in Scarborough. Food, Music and Dance. Entertainment includes a dance hall performance by Blazer Frass and performances by the NEEMA Kids Choir and Chris “ the Fire eater “
