STRATFORD, Ont. (January 18, 2019) – A new book gives Justin Bieber fans an intimate, behind-the-curtain look at a museum exhibit in his hometown devoted to the Canadian pop superstars early life and rise to worldwide fame.

Justin Bieber: Steps to Stardom features 100 colour photos of some of the most iconic pieces of memorabilia in The Stratford Perth Museums one-of-a-kind Bieber exhibit, as well as never-before-told stories behind what makes the items so significant. The book also treats fans to exclusive photos and stories about Justin and his family that cant be found in the exhibit.

Featuring a signed foreword by Bieber himself, the book was written by Stratford Perth Museum General Manager John Kastner and published by Stratford-based Blue Moon Publishers.

Its been astounding to see how people from all over the world have connected with the exhibit,” says Kastner. We wanted to capture those same feelings of closeness and positivity in the book that weve been able to create through the exhibit.

Thousands of Beliebers from around the world have flocked to the Stratford Perth Museum since it launched its Bieber exhibit last February. The unique collection of memorabilia, lent to the museum by Bieber and his family members, provides a fascinating snapshot of the pop stars extraordinary path to success – beginning from his early days as a youngster in Stratford before he was discovered, to his present status as one of the worlds top-selling names in entertainment. The new book – the first-ever to spotlight one of the museum’s exhibits – builds on that excitement.

The exhibit – which was scheduled to end last fall has been extended until at least until the end of 2019– has been an overwhelming hit for the small museum. Prior to opening the Bieber exhibit, the museum received a few thousand visitors in a good year. Last year, more than 20,000 visitors came through the museums doors, including Bieber and wife Hailey Baldwin.

Based on the resounding success of the exhibit, Blue Moon Publishers approached Kastner to write a book that not only catalogues some of the most interesting pieces in the collection, but also tells the story of the creation of the exhibit and the journeys of fans who have travelled from around the globe to pay homage to the icon.

There are millions of fans of Justins who may not be able visit the museum personally. This book in essence brings the museum to them,” says Heidi Sander, Publisher at Blue Moon Publishers and Director of the Stratford Writers Festival. They can see each of the items, they can read the stories behind them. Thats the special component to this book.

Some of items featured in the book that have resonated most strongly with visitors include photos of a hockey jacket from when he played for the Stratford Warriors Atom Travel Team when his nickname was already Biebs’ and a childhood library card, as well as dozens of personal pieces and awards from his music career.

For Kastner, the book is another chapter in his long association with Bieber and his family. Prior to changing careers and joining the museum, Kastner spent 33 years as a journalist at the Stratford Beacon and retired as its managing editor in 2012.

Kastner regularly covered the incredible story of Biebers rapid ascent from a young teen with a dream to strike it big, to one of the worlds most popular musicians. Kastner worked with Bieber and his relatives, including his grandparents, Diane and Bruce Dale, who still live in Stratford, to come up with material for the book.

Justin and his family have been so supportive throughout the process of creating the exhibit and then pulling together this book,” Kastner says. Were really proud that weve been able to create something special to share with fans.
