Hon. Justin Trudeau MP
Houses of Parliament
Ottawa
Canada
20th October 2015
Dear Justin:
I have the honour to congratulate you, on behalf of the Government and people of Antigua and Barbuda, on a great election victory.
In late 2013 when you last visited Antigua and Barbuda we were both sitting on the Opposition benches in our respective countries, hoping to be given the opportunity to take our countries in a new direction.
I hail your victory as a powerful mandate to lead Canada into a new era of economic prosperity and an enhanced role in world affairs. As you begin to grapple with these responsibilities, I offer you my best wishes for a successful term in office.
Canada has always had a special role in the Caribbean and I am hopeful that, as you assume office, these relations can again flourish in a meaningful way. I call on you to re-engage with the Caribbean and to rekindle the special relationship that flourished under the great Canadian leader Pierre Trudeau.
After your long and bruising election campaign, I trust that you will take time off to relax and that you will once again exercise excellent judgement in your choice of vacation destination, allowing me the honour of being able to welcome you to Antigua and Barbuda.
I look forward to working with you in the months and years ahead as we seek to develop our economies and bring our people closer together.
Gaston Browne MP
