A quarter of all adult Barbadians have at least one chronic disease and this is projected to increase to one third of all adults by 2025. Minister of Health, Donville Inniss, shared this sobering statistic last Friday, as he gave the keynote address at the third annual China Health Forum (CHF) in Beijing. The two-day conference brought together ministers of health, senior health administrators and health institution executives, to improve global health reform and strengthen international co-operation.

HIV is a real health concern in the Caribbean and a recent UNAIDS Report has confirmed what was already established by previous health related research institutions. Within the Caribbean region, 230,000 people are HIV positive, according to the latest UNAIDS Report. The report did however go on to say that AIDS related deaths have declined by almost 50 per cent in ten years. Deaths from AIDS fell to about 10,000 persons in 2011. This is nearly half what was seen in 2001, in the almost 30 years since the start of the AIDS epidemic.

For 35 years Dr Taylor has been serving thousands of patients through holistic chiropractic care. As a licensed Doctor of Chiropractic she worked in three U.S. offices and in 2003 established her practice ‘Quantum Leap’ on the island of Dominica. Her board certification has always required taking yearly continuing education courses.
