Don’t Forget The Details

black womanWe invest a lot of time and energy into other things and other people. It would be nice to spend the same time and energy into improving our being. I love it when I find a dress or a pair of shoes that looks as though someone took the time to make it special. When the rosettes are placed just right, the fabric is awesome and the hem is perfectly stitched, it makes the purchase a happy purchase. Details make everything more appealing.

Take the time to perfect your presence and make the following investments this year.

Invest in great bras.

Breasts are both functional and fashionable. Who doesn’t like breasts? The problem with breasts is that they are not always displayed at their best. Ladies, a well-fitted bra will give you great support, improve your posture, and camouflage your love handles. Get professionally fitted because many of us aren’t the size we think we are. I thought my cup size was a triple D; however, I am an awesome, fabulous, spectacular G. Regardless of size, always wear sexy bras. Ugly undergarments make you feel ugly all day long.

Invest in your walk.

This might sound silly, but learn how to walk. Yes, it is more than simply putting one foot in front of the other. When you walk hunched over, head down, trudging along the sidewalk, it tells the world that you don’t care about the space you occupy, and that you don’t feel awesome. People will have no problems running you over. Be aware of your presence as you move through space. Smile and confidently claim the space you’re about to occupy. Walk erect with your head up and shoulders back, and watch people get out of your way.

Invest in your health.

You should get a yearly physical. You should also schedule a yearly visit with the gynecologist, and visit the dentist every six months. Eat healthy, exercise, control stress and live longer. Many conditions can be corrected or controlled with early detection and intervention. However, this isn’t possible if visits to the doctor’s office are placed on the backburner. For example, although there is a higher rate of breast cancer among white women, more black women die from breast cancer because we are not getting early detection and treatment.

Invest in your finances.

Figure out exactly how much you’ll give yourself every month, and pay yourself that amount. Deposit it into your savings account and watch it grow. Formulate a plan to eliminate credit card balances, and create a budget. Taking control builds confidence and makes us feel more secure and independent.

Invest in your soul.

This is the most important investment. When your soul is right, you will automatically desire the same for every area of your life. There is a difference between being religious and being spiritual. Forget about being legalistic and foster a personal relationship with God. Ritualistic spirituality quickly turns into a burden. God adores difference; otherwise, everything would look the same. He wants you to bring your reverent, creative difference when seeking Him. Know God for yourself, nurture your soul, and make the experience unique to you and special for God. After all, He took the time to make you different from any number of possibilities that could ever occur.

Take the time to attend to the details. When you pay attention to the details, everyone else will. It reflects in the way you carry yourself. Pay attention to the details especially when you don’t feel like it. When you force yourself into a more positive direction, your entity will respond in a positive manner.
