Sizzla's Sweden Tour Cancelled Due To Gay Rights Protesters

Gay rights activists continue to hassle reggae singer Sizzla Kalonji. In the latest twist, the promoters who booked Sizzla to appear in Sweden on March 28, have faced a backlash from the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) community in that country.

Speaking out in protest of Sizzla’s appearance on the show, members of the LGBT organization have condemned Sizzla’s anti-gay lyrics thus bringing into repute his appearance in Sweden.

Due to the outcry from the LGBT the organisers have decided to postpone the show indefinitely as Sizzla was the headline act on the show that was dubbed “Reggae Compassionate Act.”

This is not the first time such a backlash has affected Sizzla. In 2007, several of his dates in Montreal and Toronto were cancelled due to protest by members of the “Canadian Stop Murder Music coalition.”

Other artistes who have seen their overseas appearances affected by Gay Right protesters include Capleton, Beenie Man and the presently incarcerated Buju Banton.

Sizzla was recently involved in a near fatal motorcycle accident in Jamaica, that saw him having to take some time out to recover fully. He is now back on the scene and recently performed “Sizzla Unplugged and Acoustics” to rave reviews.
