The Eastern Caribbean Civil Aviation Authority (ECCAA) is assuring travellers of their safety while flying the skies within the sub-regional Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS).
In a message to mark its eight anniversary Saturday, the ECCCA said the advances made in international civil aviation in recent years, air travel continues to be the preferred and most reliable mode of transportation for connecting persons across the world.
“The ECCAA as the civil aviation regulatory authority for the OECS region engenders this year’s International Civil Aviation Day theme through its core mandate to provide safe and secure skies in the OECS Member States through technical support of CNS and security screening equipment and ensuring compliance in civil aviation safety and security through audits, inspections, surveys and tests.
“We are also guaranteeing the issuance of safety circulars, flight inspections and verification of navigation, surveillance and visual aids and ensuring adherence to civil aviation legislation and regulations,” it said in the message that also marks observance of International Civil Aviation Day on December 7.
The ECCAA said it was also cooperating with the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) and other international civil aviation authorities and agencies on accident and incident investigations, sourcing and facilitation of aviation related training and provision of civil aviation technical advice to the nine-member OECS grouping.
“We also seek their support in acquiring personnel licensing for pilots, aeronautical engineers, air traffic controllers and others and certification of airports, aircraft, air operators, aircraft maintenance organizations aeronautical engineers and ancillary services.”
